The catch I found with OWS comes from the same argument with the Tea Partiers: miscommunication. Both also came from questionable roots and both seem muddled from accepting everything, meaning every batshit insane loon that thinks they're the main reason the movement exists.

There are demands that the protestors have made: from certain groups in the movement, that is. Unfortunately, chaos is as chaos does and despite them all having one common foe (in this case, M.R. Moneybags), none of them can pin down giving a real solution to offer and no one really can care as a result, unless it involves something stupid in which case the only people who care are the media. The fact that it did start from an Amsterdam group as you pointed out also lowers the credibility of the case.

If there is anything that was gained from this, it was Ron Paul and his push to show the youngins that he's hip to their agenda as well.

Well if ACTA still remains in the US ( because the US signed it.) Then another law will come in due time, similar to SOPA and PIPA. And as we are all aware, these crush the innovation of the digital age and makes more unemployment. Wouldn't it be best to first get rid of this shit called ACTA then focus on the other goals?.

With lots of game I switched to buying it once it goes discount, then download it. E.g., steam version of Fallout 3 anthology - I can only get the censored German one, so I buy it and then download the full cracked game to which I think I'm entitled. Which doesn't solve the problem of having the bloody steam virus on my PC...

Ohhh, music creation - what a vile temptress you are.

It starts out all peaches, before you know it your cranking out choons left and right, you get so proud of your efforts because they stop causing ear cancer... then someone points out how obvious and manufactured they are, because thats all that FruityLoops is capable of in the hands of anyone but a maestro.
FL is not alone, all music software is like that... your not alone, everyone who makes music on their PC goes through the same thing.

The only time I've been really proud of my music creation is when I start out trying to make it sound organic, like it is as far from FL studio or Garage Band as it could possibly be. Like work on the hook first and build the song around it - last time it was a simple little melody that shifted down a key that it probably shouldn't be in, something that you just wouldn't do in a music package - but it sounded broken, and more like a happy accident than a formulated result. I say keep messing around, and you'll often find cool hooks that you can build on, and result in songs your proud of.
Theres a lot to be said for working for your art - FL makes it too easy, purists should try making a remix on a PSX with Music2000, I'd love to see what Deadmau5 could do with that.

I'm not a professional of course, I'm an opinionated / concerned / arrogant blowhard. I have worked with a professional musician, on a game I wrote a couple of years ago. It was a remake of Bruce Lee, and I wanted a remake of the title song and found someone who had done a great version of it. He was happy to do it, but took eons messing around with instruments and levels and effects - he was meticulous, to the point that the difference between a pro and someone who makes music (like us) is damn huge - we'd never go to those lengths, because to our ears there is no need. I don't notice any discernible difference in the music, to him the early version compared to the final version are miles apart - to me they both sound awesome. It was a freeware game project, payment was never on the cards, but he still gave it 100%, professional results done by a true professional, and it made me wonder why I even bother trying to make music, my skills are elsewhere, I guess I'm always hoping to come up with something exceptional.
